Introduction
Neurophysiological signs such as prepulse inhibition and
eye tracking are linked to conditions like schizophrenia.
They are particularly useful to study because they are present
across species, allowing investigation with animal models
as well as human subjects. Unlike neuropsychological tests,
where patients may improve through practice or with extra
motivation, signs like prepulse inhibition does not improve
or deteriorate and so remains a test that can be repeated
time after time.
