Sharing information & promoting
the understanding of mental illness
We aim to publicise our research goals and results as widely
as possible and provide the public and clinical community
with updated information on current findings, diagnosis
and treatments. Work at the CNRC has resulted in the publication
of 35 journal articles, with a number currently awaiting
publication.
We work with local and national groups and organisations
to bring issues of mental health and research to the healthcare
community and public through meetings, workshops and conferences.
Anti-stigma projects at the centre focus on encouraging
carers, educators and the media to address the issue. Through
the website www.emental-health.com,
the CNRC plays a major role in disseminating accurate information
and raising public awareness on mental illness. Launched
in 2001 and endorsed by professional bodies including the
Royal College of Psychiatrists, it was one of the first
internet sites to provide research-based information for
the general public.
